The Plan

Stefanie arrived safe, sound, and very tired. We chatted nonstop today while packing and getting ready for our Europe Adventure. Here's The Plan:

Berlin, Dresden, Prague, Budapest, Cinque Terre, Rome...Hannover, again.

In the words of the Pointer Sisters: "I'm so excited and I just can't hide it!"

TTTOOOORRR!!!!!!

On Monday we had our season's last handball game. I am sad to see the season end, but happy to know that we will still have training through the spring and summer.

A few notes on the game: as it was my last game with the team and, due to the fact that we were missing a few players on account of injuries, I played almost the whole game and...SCORED A GOAL! It was my first (and well last..) goal of the season. It was incredibly exciting. I couldn't stop smiling.

We also had a game on Sunday which Petra, Christian and the kids came to watch. It meant so much to me that they were there. I am hoping to be able to post a video from that game...we will see. And then a few of my friends came to watch Monday's game, so I am hoping to post a couple pictures that they took as well.

p.s. Tor = goal

Fridays = Work Days...well sort of

All week long, the Germans work hard but Friday is everyone's favorite day - especially sunny Fridays. Normally when I am biking home from my class on Monday and Wednesday around 1pm, there is not a lot of traffic, just some lunch traffic, but the majority of people out are moms with their young kids. However, on Fridays at 1 pm there is tons of traffic - bikes and cars. The work day here ends anytime between 1 and 3 pm on Fridays...how cool.

Yesterday was no different. I was in a couple "bike jams", if you will, not only because it was Friday but also because it was gorgeous! It rains a lot here, so when the sun comes out, everyone soaks it up. Today is also beautiful. I am headed out for a run around Maschsee (the lake in the city) with my friend Lucy. I hope there is spring weather where you are too!

Countdowns

So in 10 days from today Stefanie will be here and I can hardly wait. Everyone knows she is coming, my host family, the au pair girls, my handball teammates, and even my classmates. Then we will travel some around eastern Europe and Italy.

The other countdown I have is for a new course I am going to take. Tomorrow my German course will be finished. It was good, I learned a lot, but not a ton of fun. Luckily I am starting a new course on April 20th. No, not a German class, but rather a Yoga and Pilates class!

I am hoping for a somewhat toned stomach come swimsuit season....

Jenna

Jenna, an au pair from Canada, arrived in Germany right around when I did. She is headed home after a coupe week tour of Western Europe. I will certainly miss her.

I made this for her. They are blank beermats from an amazing craft store. I kept the theme red, black, and yellow for Germany, of course.

We are 0.60€ richer.

Ok, so sixty cents, what's the big deal? Well, it is actually not the amount of money but the way I saved it.

I was shopping today and noticed that two things rang up for 1.29€ instead of 0.99€. So I said something and was right!

ps It was, natürlich, all auf deutsch!

It's ok, my dear

Matti and I were biking to soccer practice the other day and as usual we were chatting about dragons and flying. Then I swerved a little bit with my bike and said, "Oh sorry, Matti" and he responded, "Oh it's ok, my dear".

Four year olds...

Girls' Night Out

Petra and I just had a wonderful girls night out. After realizing that we had yet to do something on our own, we set a date that Christian stays home with the kids and we go out.

We went and saw the new movie, Twilight. I wasn't sure about a vampire movie, but Petra, after reading almost all four books and seeing the movie once, assured me that it was a very nice love story.

We had a great time, just us girls. We enjoyed some sweet popcorn - which will forever and always be better than the over-buttered movie corn popcorn of the states - and a very romantic story (with, I should mention, gorgeous actors). All in all a fabulous Girls' Night which will definately need to be repeated.

side note: I am going to read the Twilight books, but am afraid to begin tonight because then I won't exercise tomorrow but rather lay in bed and read.
